London: John Murray, 1848. 2 vols., first edition, 8vo (220 x 127mm.) 18 plates, 5 folding plans and charts, 1 in colour, 2pp. and 16pp. publisher's advertisements to rear. (Lacking front and rear blanks, marginal damp-stain and spotting to the portrait frontispiece, heavy insect damage to fore-edge and margins, text unaffected, 3 maps marginally affected.) 21st century half red morocco over marbled paper covers, red and green morocco lettering pieces to the spines (endpapers replaced). Provenance: 'R.S.M.V. 'Rajah Brooks'' (ink stamp to A4 of volume 1, possibly administrative) (2).
