TENNENT, James Emerson. Ceylon, an Account of the Island, Physical Historical and Topographical with Notices of its Natural History, Antiquities and Productions. London: Longman, Green et al., 1860. 2 vols., 8vo (222 x 138mm.) 2 frontispieces, 5 maps, including 2 folding, numerous wood-engraved maps and illustrations in the text, errata slip, 24pp. and 2pp. publisher's advertisements to rear and also printed to pastedowns. (Toning, very minor occasional spotting, pp. 37-43 loose from volume 1.) Original green cloth with pictorial gilt of an elephant to each upper cover (light rubbing). Note: Tennent was Colonial Secretary to Ceylon from 1845-1850 (2).
