CONAN-DOYLE, Arthur (contributor). The Strand Magazine. London: George Newnes Ltd., 1891-1908. 31 vols., 8vo (242 x 163mm.) Numerous illustrations, some in colour. (Moderate spotting, occasional soiling.) Original pictorial cloth, eight volumes with g.e. (rubbing to extremities, some hinges weakening, sunning to spine of volume 2). Note: comprises volumes 1-21, 24-26, 28-30, 32, 34-36. Volumes 2-6 contain the entire 24 stories that were subsequently published as 'The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes'. Volume 26 contains three Sherlock Holmes stories and volume 28 has four and these were all subsequently collected as 'The Return of Sherlock Holmes'. Volume 36 has three stories that were collected as 'His Last Bow: The Reminiscences of Sherlock Holmes' (31).
