JOHNSON, Samuel. A Dictionary of the English Language: in which the words are deduced from their originals, and illustrated in their different significations by examples from the best writers. London: Harrison and Co., 1786. Folio (430 x 266mm.) Engraved portrait frontispiece, title in red and black. (Toning, marginal spotting to a few leaves of the 'Life', marginal damp-stain to 10A-10B, occasional browning.) Contemporary half calf, red morocco lettering piece to the spine (minor loss to spine ends, soiling). Note: known as 'Harrison's edition' this was the first 1 volume publication of Johnson's dictionary.
