A large early 18th century silkwork sampler by Mary Gatehouse, detailed 'Born Thursday the 13 Day of September 171-, This was done the 11 year of my age', finely worked in pastel silks with bands of numbers and letters above pious verse, the lower third decorated with stylized trees and peacocks, 88cm x 36cm, mounted within a gilt and stained wood frame.
