THORNTON, Robert John. A Family Herbal: or Familiar Account of the Medical Properties of British and Foreign Plants. London: B. and R. Crosby, 1814. Second edition, 8vo (213 x 127mm.) Stipple-engraved portrait frontispiece, numerous illustrations by Henderson and engraved by Thomas Bewick. (Spotting to front and rear leaves, browning, text cracked at p.vi.) Near contemporary maroon diced morocco, black morocco lettering piece to the spine (rubbing to all extremities). Provenance: W.H. Hallelt (pencil inscribed to title). - And a further two volumes (including volume 2 of William Gilpin's 'Remarks on Forest Scenery, and Other Woodland Views… of [the] New Forest in Hampshire', 1791, 8vo) (3).
