DOUCE, Francis. The Dance of Death Exhibited in Elegant Engravings on Wood with a Dissertation on the Several Representations of that Subject But More Particularly on those Ascribed to Macaber and Hans Holbein. London: William Pickering, 1833. First edition, 8vo (203 x 133mm.) Frontispiece, 49 plates after Holbein, 4 further plates. (Toning, spotting to endpapers.) Original dark green half morocco over boards (rubbing, discolouring to boards). - And a further four illustrated volumes (including 'The Celebrated Hans Holbein's Alphabet of Death' selected by Anatole de Montaiglon, 1856, 8vo, and [Charles Dickens's] 'Memoirs of Joseph Grimaldi' edited by 'Boz', 1869, 8vo) (5).
