London: Richard Bentley, 1838. 3 vols., first edition in book form, first issue, 8vo (188 x 112mm.) 24 etched plates by George Cruikshank, 4pp. publisher's advertisements to rear of volume 1. (Lacking half-titles for vols. 1 and 2, title of vol. 1 loosening, spotting to plates, occasional minor soiling.) Contemporary black half morocco over marbled paper-covered boards, gilt lettering to spines (rubbing to extremities). Note: volume 3 is a second edition. Provenance: Edward Geoffrey Sergeant (bookplates to front pastedowns) (3).
