CLARENDON, Edward Hyde. The History of the Rebellion and Civil Wars in England. Oxford: at the theatre 1702-1704. 3 vols., first edition, folio (380 x 233mm.) 2 engraved portrait frontispieces, 2 engraved vignettes to titles, ornaments and initials. (Lacking 1 frontispiece, lacking half-titles, toning, occasional browning.) Contemporary calf (all boards detached, lacking 1 board, rubbing). Provenance: David Jones (ink inscribed to title of volume one); C.L. Denison (name inscribed to preliminaries). - And a further four volumes (including William Hurd's 'A New Universal History of the Religious Rites, Ceremonies and Customs of the World', [circa 1780], folio, and Walter Raleigh's 'A History of the World in Five Books', 1733, folio) (7).
