A Chinese Canton Export ivory chess set, mid to late 19th century, one side stained red, the other side natural representing the Chinese versus the Mongols, height of king 10.4cm (some minor faults), together with an export ivory paperknife, the handle carved and pierced with a standing figure amidst a cage work of scrolling foliage, length 25.5cm.
