A rare Chinese famille rose enamelled export porcelain jar and cover, 18th century, probably Yongzheng period, the baluster body painted with a scene of a boy lighting a firecracker as a group of twelve other boys and four maidens watch on, one boy putting his hands to his ears, divided by a banana plant emanating from rocks below rising vapours, the shoulder with ruyi head and trellis bands, the domed cover painted with three further boys and banana plant in a fenced garden, underglaze blue double ring to base, total height 42.5cm (restoration to rim of cover).
