Quaglino's, created by Italian immigrants from Piedmont, North Italy, was the most fashionable restaurant in London in the 1930's. It was frequented by royalty, including Edward VIII and Mrs. Simpson, as well as the cultural and celebrity elite- Evelyn Waugh, Judy Garland and Barbara Cartland were patrons - while Princess Margaret had a table permanently reserved for herself. It's just possible that the most charming of the set were the Quaglino brothers themselves.
