BALLETS-RUSSES. - M. and J. de BRUNOFF (editors.) [A collection of thirteen programmes for the Ballets-Russes. Paris: 1912-1929.] 13 programmes, 4to (317 x 240mm.) Profusely illustrated in colour and black and white by Picasso, Bakst, Derain, Tchelitchew and many others, including a lithograph coloured in pochoir by Picasso from Stravinsky's 'Parade' and 6 more full-page lithographs by Picasso in the '1923' issue, photographic illustrations throughout, including from Man Ray and Dimitriew, with important texts in French including those by Apollinaire and Jean Cocteau, and with the '1914' programme in English. (Toning, some browning to margins, a page removed from '1925' issue.) Original paper and card wrappers (occasional crease, toning), bound in mid- 20th century brown cloth, gilt lettering to upper cover and spine (minor discolouring to upper cover). Note: comprises 'Programme Officiel des Ballets Russes', Mai-Juin 1912 at Théatre du Chatelet; 'Programme de la Saison Russe', 1913, at the Théatre des Champs Élysées; 'Russian Opera and Ballet', 1914, at the Royal Theatre, Drury Lane; 'Programme des Ballets Russes', Mai 1917, at the Théatre du Chatelet; 'Programme Officiel des Ballets Russes', Décember 1919- Février 1920 at the Théatre de l' Opéra; 'Programme Officiel des Ballets Russes', December 1920, at the Théatre des Champs-Élysées; 'Ballets Russes', Mai-Juin 1920, at the Théatre à l'Opéra; 'Programme Officiel des Ballets et Opéras Russes', 1922, at the Théatre National de L'Opéra; 'Ballet Russes', 1923, at the Theatre de Monte-Carlo; 'Programme Général de la Saison de Monte-Carlo', 1924, at the Theatre de Monte-Carlo; 'Ballet Russes', Juin 1925, at the Theatre de Monte-Carlo; 'Ballet Russes, Saison de Ballets, 1928, at the Theatre de Monte Carlo; 'XXII Saison des Ballets Russes', 1929, at the Theatre Sarah-Bernhardt. Also bound-in is the 'Souvenir' for the 'The Sleeping Princess', 1921, at the Alhambra Theatre, and loosely inserted are several smaller format programmes for performances related to Diaghilev.
