BROOKES, Samuel. An Introduction to the Study of Conchology: Including Observations on the Linnaean Genera, and on the Arrangement of M. Lamarck. London: for John and Arthur Arch, 1815. First edition, 4to (266 x 205mm.) 11 lithographed plates, 9 hand-coloured. (Toning, occasional light spotting, corner loss to X2, browning to rear leaves.) Near contemporary half calf over marbled paper-covered boards, later red morocco lettering piece to spine (rebacked, endpapers replaced, rubbing to extremities). Provenance: B.S. Morton, marine ecologist (bookplate to front pastedown).
