Folding hand-coloured lithographic frontispiece of the Niagara Falls, 2 hand-coloured engraved maps, 1 folding, 4 uncoloured lithographic plates, 3 folding, 16pp. publisher's advertisements to rear of volume 2. (Browning, regular minor soiling and finger-marks throughout, spotting to 'Niagara Falls' frontispiece, lacking 1 coloured plate.) Original green cloth, blind-stamped (worn). - And a further three volumes by Charles Lyell (including 'A Second Visit to the United States of North America', 2 vols., 1849, 8vo). Provenance: by descent, from the estate of Rendel Williams (5).
