HIBBERT, Samuel. History of the Extinct Volcanos of the Basin of Neuwied, on the Lower Rhine. Edinburgh: W. and D. Laing, 1832. First edition, 8vo (214 x 127mm.) 2 hand-coloured geological maps, 1 engraved and folding, the other wood-engraved, 6 plates drawn by Mrs. Hibbert and etched by W. Penny, including 3 double-paged. (Toning to margins.) Near contemporary brown half calf over marbled paper-covered boards (wear to spine ends). Provenance: A.C. Ramsay, Scottish geologist (gilt name to upper cover); L.R. Wager, geologist (name inscribed to front-free endpaper); by descent, from the estate of Rendel Williams.
