MANTELL, Gideon. A Descriptive Catalogue of the Objects of Geology, Natural History, and Antiquity (Chiefly Discovered in Sussex), in the Museum Attached to the Sussex Scientific and Literary Institution at Brighton. London: Relfe and Fletcher, 1836. Fourth edition, 8vo (208 x 125mm.) 3 engraved plates with tissue-guards, including 1 folding, several wood-engraved illustrations in the text. (Spotting to preliminaries and intermittently.) Near contemporary black straight grain morocco, gilt lettering to upper cover, gilt turn-ins, g.e. (rubbing to extremities). - And a further five volumes by Gideon Mantell (including 'Petrifications and their Teachings; or, A Hand-Book to the Gallery of Organic Remains of the British Museum', 1851, 8vo, and 'A Day's Ramble in and About the Ancient Town of Lewes', 1846, 8vo). Provenance: by descent, from the estate of Rendel Williams (6).
