LAW. - Robert BROOKE. La Graund Abridgment. London: Richard Tottell, 1576. 4to (213 x 156mm.) Black letter, 2 parts in 1, title with historiated wood-cut border, colophon to rear. (Lacking title to first part, marginal damp-stain to first few leaves, ink annotation and underlining to numerous leaves.) 17th century calf (upper cover detached, worn). Note: Brooke abridged nearly 21,000 cases and filed them under 404 headings. An important legal summary of British Common Law. Provenance: by descent, from the estate of Rendel Williams.
