LONDON SOCIETY OF ANTIQUARIES (publisher). Archaeologia; or, Miscellaneous Tracts Relating to Antiquity. London: the Society of Antiquaries of London, 1770-1796. 12 vols., 4to (271 x 198mm.) Numerous engraved plates, many folding. (Browning, occasional spotting.) Near contemporary cat's paw calf, red and green morocco lettering pieces to the spines, gilt borders and turn-ins (upper cover of volume 3 detached and upper cover of volume 12 loosening, rubbing to extremities, minor loss to spine ends). Note: the first twelve volumes of this publication that continued until 1991. Aside from the material on Stonehenge and Avebury it also contains material from the Middle East, including articles and plates in volume 2 relating to Tartarian antiquities (12).
