First edition, 4to (272 x 219mm.) 40 plates, including 6 hand-coloured folding lithographed plates (with 'Mont Blanc from the Breven') and 1 uncoloured folding plate and 20 colour plates. (Browning, occasional spotting verso the plates, spotting to preliminaries.) Contemporary half calf (covers detached, spine lacking). Provenance: General Charles Cathcart ('Lord Greenock'), amateur geologist (name inscribed to title); L.R. Wager, geologist (name inscribed to initial blank). Provenance: by descent, from the estate of Rendel Williams.
