An early 20th century German .800 silver singing bird automaton musical box, possibly by Karl Griesbaum, of serpentine rectangular outline, decorated in relief with birds amidst scrolling foliage, the oval cover with bird and cornucopia decoration, opening to reveal a pierced gilt grill and a brightly featured pop-up singing bird with moving beak and wings, the front with sliding button in the form of a bird, hinged key compartment verso, detailed '800' to one side, length 10cm (lacking original key).
