William Hamlet of Bath - a late 18th century oval miniature profile portrait of Ellen Anderson, sister of Gen. Paul Anderson, gouache on ivory, 7.3cm x 5.8cm, within an ebonized frame, inscribed verso, together with a similar portrait of Susanna Anderson. inscribed verso 'Grace Dieu Waterford'. Provenance: family descent from Lieutenant-General Paul Anderson to the current vendor. Formerly at Grace Dieu, Waterford. Note: a non-transferrable ivory exemption certificate has been granted for the sale of this item.
