TOXICOLOGY. – Robert CHRISTISON. A Treatise on Poisons, in Relation to Medical Jurisprudence, Physiology, and the Practice of Physic. Edinburgh: for Adam Black and Longman, Rees et al., 1832. Second edition, 8vo (213 x 123mm.) 1 engraved plate to rear. (Spotting to preliminaries and to plate, some corner creasing, minor soiling, or spills, to rear endpaper.) Near contemporary half calf (sunning to spine, extremities rubbed). Note: it was for many years the authoritative work on poisons. Provenance: Edward Braxton Reynolds (bookplate to front pastedown). – And two related volumes (G. Lathom Browne and C.G. Stewart’s ‘Reports of Trials for Murder by Poisoning’, 1883, 8vo, and H.W. MacFarren’s ‘Text Book of Cyanide Practice’, 1912, 8vo) (3).
