(Fingermarks, dust-soiling, corner creases.) Contemporary half calf (loss to spine ends, heavily rubbed). Note: Samuel Hobson was one of London’s most esteemed coachbuilders catering to a royal and aristocratic clientele. Having been an apprentice with Barker & Co. of Chandos Street, Hobson started his own business in Long Acre in 1815. Financial troubles forced the closure of his business in 1837.
