A Georgian yellow metal and silver set marquise shaped mourning ring, glazed with a painted miniature on ivory depicting an urn on a pedestal, detailed ‘In Memory of a Friend’, below a weeping willow, with an outer border of colourless pastes, the reverse engraved ‘Elizth Holmes obt 17 June 1782 aet 52’, unmarked, weight 5.7g (shank distorted), with a case. Note: a non-transferrable ivory exemption certificate has been granted for the sale of this item.
