                An extremely rare and striking Central Bank of Jordan banknote die proof engraver's test strike portrait vignette of King Hussein wearing keffiyeh, in dark lilac/brown on oversized paper, inked to lower half with printer's comments and dated '26.8.73' (inscribed 'Toovey's' in ink to reverse, needs cleaning). Note: this style of portrait was used on fourth and fifth issue notes circa 1992-1995. Provenance: from the personal archive of the late Alan Dow, master banknote engraver to Bradbury Wilkinson & Co and the Bank of England.
