A group of six Bank of Ceylon banknote die proof engraver's test strike portrait vignettes of S.W.R.D. Bandaranaike, probably for the obverse of a five rupees note, colour trials, comprising two titled examples in black with details for Bradbury Wilkinson & Co and numbered '409', two untitled examples in black and two examples in mauve (all very fine). Provenance: from the personal archive of the late Alan Dow, master banknote engraver to Bradbury Wilkinson & Co and the Bank of England.
