A group of five rare Central Bank of the Philippines banknote die proof engraver's test strike portrait vignettes of José Rizal in green on oversized paper/card with full-plate margins, printer's details in biro ink to lower edges (all extremely fine). Note: this portrait was probably not used in an end design, though it is very similar to that used on 1969 'Pilipino' issue notes. Provenance: from the personal archive of the late Alan Dow, master banknote engraver to Bradbury Wilkinson & Co and the Bank of England.
