A rare and striking Grand-Duché de Luxembourg partial banknote die proof engraver's test strike for the obverse of a one thousand francs note, circa 1985, in brown as later issues with portrait vignette of Grand Duke Jean to centre right, value to top right corner, on oversized paper/card, detailed 'Luxembourg 1000 FT. 1983' to lower right plate margin and dated '26.7.84' in ink (extremely fine, some handling marks). Provenance: from the personal archive of the late Alan Dow, master banknote engraver to Bradbury Wilkinson & Co and the Bank of England.
