A group of six rare Banco de Portugal progressive die proof printer's test strike portrait vignettes of Queen Filipa de Lancastre, all in purple on oversized cut and torn paper/card, numbers in biro ink to some lower corners, one stuck down on card base (good/very fine, some paper discolouration and handling marks). Note: this style used on issued one thousand escudos notes. Provenance: from the personal archive of the late Alan Dow, master banknote engraver to Bradbury Wilkinson & Co and the Bank of England.
