A rare Tibetan iron danda or khatvanga, 12th/13th century, the Vajrayana Buddhist ritual wand with vajra crown and skull finial above a lotus knop, heptagonal tapering stem and vajra crown terminal, length 29.5cm, within a paper covered card box. Provenance: the Alain Presencer Collection. Note: a danda or khatvanga is a tantric staff or wand used during ritual ceremonies by eminent Buddhist practitioners. It symbolises the triumph of wisdom over illusion in empowerment rituals. For a similar example, see Bonhams Hong Kong, 2nd October 2018, Lot 174.
