A pair of Japanese Satsuma earthenware cylinder vases by Taizan, Meiji period, each cylindrical body painted and gilt with a quail, butterflies and flowers on a shaded orange ground, within simulated brocade borders, black painted and impressed signatures to bases, height 23.5cm.
