A pair of Japanese Satsuma earthenware vases, Meiji period, of shouldered tapering form, painted with rectangular panels depicting a samurai and attendant opposing a scholar and children, within gilt and enamelled brocade borders, flanked by chrysanthemums and scrolling tendrils, unmarked, height 23.8cm.
