LOT 1190
A rare Chinese amber-glazed marbled clay (jiao tai) pottery small circular tripod dish, Tang dynasty (AD 618-907), the shallow body with single loop handle to underside of rim and supported on three conical feet, covered in a cream and reddish brown glaze of dark and light irregular swirling stripes, diameter 9.9cm, height 2cm. Note: marbling or jiao tai (mixed body) was a popular decoration technique on ceramics developed in the Tang dynasty, when marbled wares were produced particularly in the kilns of Gongxian, Henan Province.
