A Japanese boxwood kiseruzutsu (pipe case), Meiji period, carved in relief and coloured with a scene of three Okame playing kitsune-ken, opposing lines of text and signature, length 21.8cm, together with a bamboo kiseruzutsu (pipe case), carved in low relief with a bird, lantern and pine, length 20.8cm, containing a brass and bamboo pipe, length 16.5cm. Provenance: the boxwood pipe case formerly Malcolm Fairleg, London 2008, and Bonhams 'The Edward Wrangham Collection of Japanese Art: Part VI, Lot 59, 19th November 2015'.
