LOT 4380
A large and extremely rare late 19th century Bradbury Wilkinson & Co engraved heavy-gauge steel printing plate for the Operative Bricklayers' Society membership certificate, with design of a building with scaffolding and divided into various scenes and vignettes of workmen in their environs, the lower half with trade tools and a box for inset personal details, engraved by C.H. Jeens and J.H. Le Keux, the reverse of the plate stamped 'John Sellers & Sons, Sheffield', height 58.5cm, width 46cm, together with a later facsimile copy plate. Note: an example of a printed certificate is held at the Science Museum Group, London.
