[DUDLEY, Howard.] The History and Antiquities of Horsham. By the Author of Juvenile Researches. London: by the Author, 1836. First edition, signed by the author, 12mo (187 x 111mm.) 4 lithographed plates relating to Horsham, including a map, numerous woodcuts in the text, all by the author, 2pp. ‘Index’ to rear. (Minor soiling and finger-marking, browned to margins, original pencil illustration of a male figure in a hat to front-free endpaper.) Original cloth (rebacked, old tape repairs to hinges, extremities rubbed), later slipcase. Note: written and published by the author when he was just fifteen years of age. Provenance: Philip Howell (ink inscribed to by the author on the front pastedown, dated 1861); D. Prior (ink name to front pastedown).
