A Chinese Canton carved hardwood and sandalwood casket, mid to late 19th century, of octagonal outline, the hinged lid inset with a finely carved and pierced sandalwood panel depicting a dignitary on horseback with three attendants approaching an elephant and handler in woodland, with dragon above, the side panels carved in relief with figures in landscape, height 15cm, length 31cm, depth 20cm.
