A Chinese gilt bronze figure of Guanyin, probably Ming dynasty, well-cast seated in dhyanasana, holding a libation cup in her left hand, wearing a long robe and beaded jewellery, the neatly incised hair falling elegantly over the shoulders and rising to a high chignon, behind the openwork crown centred by a diminutive image of Buddha, height 30cm, on a later carved hardwood lotus throne stand, total height 42.5cm. Note: applied hand-written note to underside inscribed 'Old Chinese gilt-bronze seated figure of Kwan-Yin, Goddess of Mercy, Ming dynasty 1368-1644...'.
