It was published to commemorate Queen Elizabeth II meeting the Commonwealth Heads of Government in Durban, November 1999. The editor’s note describes the work as ‘a resource for researchers and those with a specialist interest in the Anglo-Zulu War. The official sources have been supplemented by contemporary official and unofficial publications that are rare and difficult to come by, thus adding to the usefulness of the Archives’.
