PEAR TREE PRESS. – Vivian Locke ELLIS. Epode. Flansham, Bognor Regis: Pear Tree Press, 1915. Limited edition, being number 51 of 90 copies signed by James Guthrie, 4to (291 x 223mm.) Titles and 13pp. printed in colour from intaglio plates by James Guthrie, tissue-guards. (Some spotting to tissue-guards.) Original brown wrappers, string-bound (creasing and small tears), slipcase with mounted paper label (label taped to spine). Provenance: West Sussex County Council Libraries (labels verso upper wrapper and to base of spine). – And a further four volumes including two published by The Pear Tree Press (‘Some Poems of Edgar Allan Poe’, 1901, 4to, and F.P.B. Osmaston’s ‘The Paradise of Tintoretto’, 1910, 4to, and also Christina Rossetti’s ‘Goblin Market’, 1931, 4to, and Denton Welch’s ‘I Left My Grandfather’s House’, 1958, 4to) (5).
