A scarce mid-18th century bronze medallion by J. Kirk, commemorating the Battle of Quiberon Bay, Belle-Île, 1759, obverse with Britannia armed with trident, seated upon a seahorse, reverse with figures of Night and Tempest shielding France from the thunder of Britain, diameter 40mm, Eimer 676 (extremely fine, toned).
