LOT 4257
A 19th century copper-alloy 'Billy and Charley' Shadwell Dock forgery of a pilgrim's medallion, one side detailed with two knights in combat, the other with a religious figure holding two large keys, spuriously dated '1001', with borders of medieval style text. Note: William 'Billy' Smith and Charles 'Charley' Eaton produced and sold many notorious forgeries of medieval pilgrims' medals between 1857 and 1870.
