Folding engraved geological map with hand-colouring, folding engraved plates of sections with hand-colouring, large folding letterpress ‘Order of Superposition of Strata’, 2pp. advertisements to rear. (Lacking half-title and initial blank, title browned, occasional spotting.) Contemporary calf (rebacked, endpapers replaced, extremities rubbed). – And a further three related volumes (Gideon Mantell’s ‘Petrifactions and Their Teachings’, 1851, 8vo, and John Phillips’ ‘A Guide to Geology’, second edition, 1835, 8vo, and William Rhind’s ‘Elements of Geology and Physical Geography’, second edition, 1839, 8vo) (4).
