An early Victorian Scottish silver hot water pot of baluster form with hinged lid and foliate finial above a mask spout and scroll handle, chased with flowers, 'C' scrolls and lattice panels, the front inscription engraved 'Presented to James Abernethy Esq C.E, Sir Wm & Lady Jardine of Applegirth as a mark of their gratitude for his attention to their son Alexander when commencing his Profession as Civil Engineer in 1845', on a similarly decorated circular foot, Edinburgh 1839 by James Howden & Co, weight 1181.3g, height 32.5cm. Note: a non-transferrable ivory exemption certificate has been granted for the sale of this item.
