An early 20th century cased set of medical equipment by Smith & Sheppard, the hinged lid inscribed 'Trinity College Dublin, Session 1911-1912, Class of Anatomy...First Prize. Awarded to Herbert Daniel', width 21cm, together with a cased group of other related equipment. Note: Daniel joined the RNVR as a surgeon probationer in 1914 and moved to the RAMC in 1916, before being transferred to the RAF in 1918, being promoted to Squadron Leader in 1926. In 1934 he became Wing Commander and was promoted to Group Captain during World War II.
