LOT 2150
A scarce early 20th century Anglo-Japonaiserie style mahogany framed elbow chair, designed by Giacomo Cometti (1863-1938), the padded seat and back flanked by angular armrests, height 117cm, width 56cm, depth 58cm. Note: Giacomo Cometti, the renowned Italian sculptor, was encouraged by his tutor, Leonardo Bistolfi, to pursue cabinet making and applied arts in the modernist style, in which he favoured the Arts and Crafts Liberty style.
