A Chinese Canton export lacquer rectangular games box, mid-19th century, the cover and sides decorated with gilt pavilions and willow trees, the interior fitted with five similarly decorated interfitting boxes and covers, four containing playing cards, the other containing a collection of Canton mother-of-pearl gaming counters, comprising eighteen oval, eight rectangular, eighteen slender shaped rectangular, thirty-six circular, thirteen lobed circular and seventy elliptical, the majority with incised decoration, length of box 33cm.
