LOT 1177
An Indo-Persian brass part astrolabe, mid-17th century, possibly Lahore School, the mater cast in one piece with a symmetrically fretted scrollwork kursi surmount, the tracery engraved with stylized leaf decoration, each side with engraved detail, diameter 9.8cm, length 13.4cm (lacking plates and other fittings). Note: for an astrolabe with similarly pierced scroll surmount and engraved mater, see Christies, London, Lot 88, 17th May 2007, and for a similar mater of an astrolabe, see Christies, London, Lot 373, 11th April 2008.
