After the antique - The Mazzocchi Horse (Cavallo Mazzocchi), a late 18th/19th century Italian darkly patinated cast bronze reduction of the ancient Roman bronze equestrian statue discovered in the ruined theatre of Herculaneum in May 1739, the finely cast trotting Arab horse raised on a Siena marble plinth, height 55cm, width 48cm (old repairs to rear legs and minor chips to marble). Note: a similar model of the Mazzocchi Horse was attributed to Camillo Paderne and sold 16th May 2013 at Balclis, Spain, Lot 903.
